Stompin Tom Connors Hockey Song
The Hockey Song by Stompin Tom Connors is a wonderful piece of Canadiana by one of the great Canadian singers. This video features old 70′s footage from Canada’s great national pastime, the game of Hockey!
Legend has it that ol’ Tom got to stomping so hard on the floor when he played that they had to put a block of wood under his boots to keep him from putting a hole through the stage! He’s from the lovely little province of Prince Edward Island (PEI), which is know for it’s tasty potatoes, red sand beaches, tourism and Anne of Green Gables.
Stompin’ Tom Connors is one of our most famous canucks and was honoured with a medal as an Officer in the Order of Canada in 1996. How cool is that?!!
Some people have referred to “The Hockey Song” as our 2nd national anthem. Well, I guess it’s time for me to stand up and salute then…let’s play, boys!!
